Sorry about the Phone Problem!!

If you attempted to reach our Rockford offices on Thursday, August 19th, 2010 you may have encountered the ominous message “This number has been disconnected”.  In the process of upgrading our phone system, our service provider inadvertently “disconnected” our service.  It took the majority of the day to get us back online..but the good news is we now have phone service re-established.   No worry..we are here to serve your drilling and tapping needs.  Sorry for the inconvenience!!

Four Axis Tapper – Work in Progress

A west coast manufacturer commissioned REP to replace a work horse machine that was on its last legs. Rockford-Ettco Procunier was asked us to duplicate the machine, but with additional enhancements, specifically modern electronics and more capabilities. This project, from the engineering stage to completion, will take approximately 10-12 weeks to complete.

This machine is unique because it has four stations that will tap a part from four different directions, using three different tap sizes and speeds, simultaneously.

Pictured in this blog is the is the machine base mounted with four lead screw tappers.  Also pictured is the control cabinet and PLC.

As the project continues to take shape we will update you all with pictures of our progress.

Wow!! Take a look at this!!

I have been meaning to write an article explaining the benefits of utilizing multiple spindle drilling and tapping heads to reduce cycle time and improve equipment utilization.  But, someone beat me to it!!  But I am cool with that because the article is about our customer and it is the use of our product, (although they don’t mention us by name..the picture is a give away.

So follow this link to Modern Machine Shops June 2010 article detailing how Kitchen Aide is improving OEE –Overall Equipment Effectiveness by taking 14 tapping operations off of their two spindle machining center and using our multiple spindle head for that operation.  COOL STUFF!!
